BRIEF HISTORY OF THE DISTRIBUTION OF POINTS IN THE SPHERE

Juan G. Criado del Rey and Ujué Etayo received the Best Dissemination Video Prize from the Doctorate School of the University of Cantabria in 2017 for this compilation of the precedents in the study of the distributions of points in the sphere.

This animation is a journey through the contribution of some authors in the 20th Century  when the botanist Tammes discovered the symetrical distribution of pollen grains and the physicist Thomson proposed that electrons should be distributed in the minimum of their potential energy.

The story has not come to and end yet, Teamco and dozens of researchers all around the world  still work every day in this important area and its many applications in real life.
