THE DIAMOND ENSEMBLE: A CONSTRUCTIVE SET OF SPHERICAL POINTS WITH SMALL LOGARITHMIC ENERGY
The problem of finding collections of spherical points with low energy is a fundamental question in Approximation Theory.
In this paper we present a simple construction, called the Diamond Ensemble, with a very rare property: its energy can be computed with high precision… and moreover it is extremely close to the minimum value!
